CAKE THOUGHTS,and other stuff.

My first cake of this year! A sweet floral cake, I'm obsessed with that orange rose! This design was time consuming but so worth it! I would love to fill my 2019 with cakes like this!!!
Christmas was busy. No complaints, I actually far prefer winter orders, warm summer days make everything 3x trickier, there's far less rush or melting in the cool! I wasn't very organised, photo-wise, but I had to get a shot of this girly unicorn!!!
These are a super pretty gift for a loved one, all hand piped- which still takes an age, even after lots of practice! They are a little buttercream heavy, so I tend to pop a splodge of buttercream under the flower so you can easily adjust the amount!
My daughters fourth cake birthday cake, all things under the sea... and a few sea pineapples thrown in as well! Fondant is clearly not my strong point, but sometimes simple can be sweet, and less disheartening when it doesn't take hours to create, when its all sliced up into bits!
This cake was for my sister so there wasn't a huge amount of pressure to get the perfect finish on the icing,,, I found inspiration for this catty cake on Instagram a long while ago, and thought it was ideal for a cat-loving-20-year-old!
I've been doing the Winterton Village sale for 4 years now. So funny to compare the differences from then and now, I'm not sure I knew what Swiss Meringue Buttercream was in 2017, and I definitely was far more reserved with the colour scheme! This year I went all out with flavours, from Tequila and Lime to Fresh Strawberry and Cream, Mocha Cake and Double Choc... but most popular as always was the Victoria Sponge. These sort of table set-ups are super lovely for weddings, especially when presented among amazing floral bouquets!
Anyone who knows me has come to realize, I HATE all things fondant, its hard-work, time consuming, super frustrating... I'm blown away by people who make full-on sculptures effortlessly and enjoy it (aka my older sister) ... So when I was asked to do a Dinosaur Theme cake I was pretty sure it was going to beyond tricky. When I sat down to start it, I realised; I've been practicing with fondant in other peoples style, no I don't have to go full realism, 3D, It's just not me, I'm totally free to play with it in my own way, and have fun with it, without having a nervous breakdown! Haha, so here we are, my first cake with lots of fondant, handcrafted with love, and 0 panic!
What better theme then, ''everything that's currently trending the the world of teenagers'' ... Flamingos, Cactus, Unicorns, Golden Pineapples and Mermaids! The client sent pictures of her daughters ''style'' which was super smart... I need more requests for this sort of thing, pleease!!
A busy cake making Easter, full of chocolate, bunny ears and golden eggs! I fell in love with making that Coral Pink Vanilla Buttercream, such a sweet colour!
